Thursday marked the passing of Phil Paramore, an accomplished sports commentator who worked across a variety of media platforms. He was 62.
His contemporaries believed Phil to be among the most gifted people, and his devoted fan base continued to support him for decades.
He began his career as a writer for the Dothan Eagle, where his columns were considered essential reading. Later, he moved on to the radio business and began hosting interactive shows for listeners on WESP and eventually WOOF-AM and an accompanying FM station, where he worked for more than 20 years.
He worked as a sports anchor for WDHN in the 1990s, but Phil acknowledged that he did not enjoy working late afternoons and evenings, so he made sure to schedule plenty of time for golfing.
He had a lot of fun presenting the weekly Troy Football review program, which was shown on a number of different television networks.
Phii received his education at Airton High School as well as Auburn University.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
