According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Jurgen Klopp has “alluded” to Liverpool’s “need” for midfield reinforcements during the summer transfer window.
With three of the Reds’ present alternatives in that position due to see their contracts expire in June (according to Transfermarkt) and Arthur Melo’s loan from Juventus very unlikely to be made permanent, a fresh face will be required during the offseason.
Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes, Mason Mount, and others have also been linked with a transfer to Anfield. Jude Bellingham has been heavily connected with a move to Liverpool for some time.
Apparently, Klopp has “alluded” to one summer signing Liverpool “need,”
Sheth feels Liverpool must acquire at least one new midfielder this summer, and he adds that manager Brendan Rodgers is well aware of the significance of doing so.
The reporter on Sky Sports told GIVEMESPORT, “I don’t believe they can afford not to sign at least one midfielder this summer, whether it’s Bellingham or not.”
“Jurgen Klopp has hinted to that and is extremely open about the necessity for summer changes. This section does require improvement.”
As of now, Liverpool will have seven midfielders on their roster for the next season (Transfermarkt).
Three of them, Stefan Bajcetic, Harvey Elliott, and Fabio Carvalho, are under the age of 20, and the latter two frequently play at an advanced position.
Jordan Henderson will turn 33 in June, Thiago will turn 32 on Tuesday, Fabinho has received a great deal of criticism in recent months, and Curtis Jones has been relegated to a peripheral position in the current Premier League season, starting only once (Transfermarkt).
In fact, none of these seven midfielders are between the ages of 23 and 28, which is often considered to be their prime (The Athletic).
Bellingham, Liverpool’s primary transfer target, is still only 19, but his extensive experience with Borussia Dortmund and England makes him an exceptional player for his age.
Hill, Neves, and Nunes are all between the ages of 23 and 28 and are accustomed to playing in the Premier League, two great characteristics for summer midfield recruits.
After publicly criticizing the majority of his players following Saturday’s humiliation at the hands of Manchester City (Sky Sports), Klopp may be preparing a massive roster overhaul throughout the offseason.
It is not surprising that Sheth believes the Reds must acquire at least one new midfielder, given that playing resources would be drastically reduced if no investment is made.
