In Big 10 Conference play on Monday evening, Grafton defeated Elkins 5-4 thanks to an unearned run scored in the top of the eighth inning.
The Tigers tied the game in the sixth inning after Cameron Biller and Gavin Carr singled with one out, with Biller scoring on a wild ball and Carr reaching on an error.
Ben Louzy scored the eventual game-winning run on an error after collecting a walk to start the eighth inning for Grafton.
Elkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a run-scoring groundout by Jaxon Drennen and an error.
Grafton tied the game in the third inning thanks to Isaiah Vanscoy’s run-scoring double.
Dustin Keener and Louzy both hit RBI groundouts in the fourth to give the Bearcats a 4-2 lead.
Cole Mooney pitched full eight innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out seven to earn the victory.
Gage Huffman relieved Drennen and Ethan Humphreys of the loss.
Drennen pitched the first three frames, giving two runs on four hits with three strikeouts, while Humphrey pitched the final four innings, allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
Elkins is presently 2-9 on the season and will travel to East Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. tonight. Biller and Carr both got two hits for Elkins.

Monday in UPPER GLADE, Tygarts Valley defeated Webster County 24-1 by collecting 17 hits on route to a five-inning victory.
Kaden Moore and Austin Teter led the Bulldogs with four RBIs apiece, while Kaiden Warner, Derrick Gear, Hunter Dumire, and Kendall Armstrong each drove in one run.
Armstrong pitched full five innings, allowing one hit and striking out nine batters to get the victory.
Today at 6 p.m., Tygarts Valley (4-2) will host Pendleton County.

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina — On Monday, Buckhannon-Upshur blanked Man 10-0 as Drahden Rice allowed just three hits over five innings.
Landon Marple and Ian Donnen each drove in two runs for the Buccaneers, who led 2-0 before scoring seven in the fifth inning.
Rice concluded the day with six strikeouts.
In relief, Ryan Snyder struck out the side in the sixth inning.
