Tuesday during the Boston Bruins’ 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals, Linus Ullmark exited the ice.
Ullmark exited the contest in the middle of the third period. Early in the third period, while making a split save, the 29-year-old appeared to injure himself.
However, Boston supporters need not be overly concerned about the health of their top goaltender. Jim Montgomery, the team’s head coach, reported that Ullmark’s early departure was a precautionary measure and that he will be alright. However, his anticipated return date has not been announced.
The leading candidate for the Vezina Trophy in 2023 has been supplanted by Jeremy Swayman. Prior to leaving the arena, Ullmark made 19 saves on 21 attempts. This season, the 29-year-old star goaltender has appeared in 48 games for the Boston Bruins. He has a record of 39-6-1 with a goals-against average of 1.89 and a save percentage of.938.
Linus Ullmark is the thirteenth NHL goaltender to score a goal.
In February, against the Vancouver Canucks, the foremost candidate for the 2023 Vazina Trophy displayed a valiant effort on the ice.
Linus Ullmark scored from the opposite side to return the puck to the vacant net. The target itself was a work of art. This was his first goal in the NHL. In a post-match interview, he expressed his joy
“It’s hard to describe what I’m feeling right now. … I have to digest it. … I’m just so bloody happy. I just had to take my chance there.”
This extraordinary goal by the 29-year-old goaltender made him only the thirteenth goaltender in NHL history to send the puck back into the net. Billy Smith, the goaltender for the New York Islanders, was the first to do so.
In 2015-16, Ullmark made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres. In 2021, after six years with the organization, he joined the Boston Bruins. In his ninth season in the NHL, Linus Ullmark has played 207 games.
He plays an average of 57 minutes per game and has a save percentage of.919. Ullmark has allowed 2.5 goals per game on average.
