The hotel where Eugenie Bouchard is presently staying has showered her with love and support ahead of her 2023 Madrid Open campaign.
Bouchard is presently on the road to recovery. She returned to the court last August at the WTA 125 tournament in Vancouver, British Columbia, 17 months after undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury. However, her return to the court has been disappointing.
This year, the Canadian has only competed in four tournaments. After being eliminated in the qualifiers for the ASB Classic and the Australian Open, she advanced to the Round of 16 at the ITF Oeiras Ladies Open in Portugal and the Round of 32 at the WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia.
Next, Bouchard will compete in the 2023 Madrid Open, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 25, and continue until Friday, May 5. The 29-year-old was overwhelmed by the warm greeting she received at the hotel where she is staying upon her arrival in Madrid.
The hotel personnel went above and beyond to show Bouchard their support by writing encouraging messages on the bathroom mirror. She took to social media to share a photo of the mirror and convey her gratitude to the hotel staff for the thoughtful gesture.

Leylah Fernandez was instrumental in Canada’s 3-2 victory over Belgium at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, which propelled her team to the finals.
Bouchard utilized social media to extend congratulations to the team. She thanked them for their hard work and commitment and also alluded to the possibility of competing in the finals, which are scheduled for later this year.
With a commanding 6-0, 6-3 victory over Yanina Wickmayer, Fernandez established a strong start for her country. However, Ysaline Bonaventure fought back and evened the score by defeating Rebecca Marino 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Unfazed, the 20-year-old rose to the occasion once more, delivering a hard-fought 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Bonaventure to restore Canada’s lead. Greet Minnen’s 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Katherine Sebov, however, brought the score to 2-2.
Gabriela Dabrowski and Fernandez defeated Kirsten Flipkens and Minnen 6-1, 6-2 in a high-stakes doubles match to secure Canada’s spot in the finals.
