Due to an injury sustained by defending champion Ones Jabur in his left calf, Madrid have decided not to compete in the Open tennis competition, which will be a blow for their preparations for the French Open.
When he was rated number one in the world, Jabur of Tunisia made the decision to pull out of the match in the semi-finals of the clay court event that is currently taking place in Stuttgart, Germany. Jabur is currently ranked fourth in the world. The opponent, Inga Swiatek, had a lead of 0–3 in the first set, but the player was behind.
Calf injury sidelined Ones Jabur from Madrid Open.
After that, Jabur announced on Twitter that he had sustained an injury to his shin and that he would need to go through a variety of diagnostic procedures.
He said, “I am sad to say that I will not be able to participate in Madrid. I need time to heal from this injury.” He added, “I need time to recover from this injury.”
The previous year saw Jabur finish in second place at both Wimbledon and the US Open. Last year at the French Open, she was a formidable challenger for the title, but she was knocked out of the competition after suffering a loss in the first round. Starting on May 28th, Paris will play host to the French Open.
