In the first game of a doubleheader, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Chicago White Sox by a score of 7-4.
After a 2-for-12 slide, Harrison is now 5-for-10 as the Phillies won their second consecutive game. The White Sox have lost five of their last six games.
Nick Castellanos and Harrison led the Phillies’ 14-hit attack with three singles apiece. In its last two games, Philadelphia has recorded 37 strikes.
Philadelphia shortstop Bryson Stott started the game with a single, extending his hitting streak to 17 games and surpassing the franchise record set by Puddin’ Head Jones in 1950.
Gregory Soto, Craig Kimbrel, Seranthony Dominguez, and Jose Alvarado combined for eight strikeouts and 12 batters retired to secure the victory. In its last four games, Chicago has struck out 39 times.
With two outs in the third inning, Harrison’s two-run single increased Philadelphia’s lead to 5-0.
The White Sox began the bottom of the third with six consecutive singles off of Zack Wheeler (1-1), bringing them within one run of the lead. Luis Robert Jr. hit a two-run double, followed by a two-run single by Andrew Vaughn. To earn the victory, Wheeler stranded Vaughn at third and left runners in scoring position in each of the next two innings.
Lance Lynn (0-2) was removed from the game in the sixth inning after he struck out Trea Turner on his 107th pitch. He had allowed a season-high 10 hits. Jimmy Lambert rescued Lynn by striking out Brandon Marsh with runners on first and second to end the inning, but Harrison hit his first home run off him in the seventh.
Alex Bohm’s two-run single in the first inning capped a three-run rally. In the first inning of their last two games, Philadelphia has scored 12 runs.
