Mehkye Washington’s desire of continuing his football career was finally realized after he had a couple of outstanding years playing for the Brawley Wildcats, during which he hauled in receptions and made plays in the secondary.
Washington signed his Letter of Intent in front of an audience that was cheering and applauding him in a gymnasium that was completely full. He was met by an amazing support system and shed some tears of his own.
On the baseball pitch in Arizona, the San Luis Sidewinders defeated the Gila Ridge Hawks by a score of 6-0. On the mound for the Sidewinders was Jared Burgueno, who threw six innings in which his team did not allow a run.
On the softball side of the same battle, it was the Lady Hawks who came out on top, winning 11-0 thanks to an eight-run inning. The game ended with the Lady Hawks taking care of business.
