MORRISDALE — On Saturday, the Cambridge Springs boys basketball team concluded its season with a 67-39 loss against West Branch.
Cambridge, the third seed from District 10, faced the second seed from District 6 at West Branch High School in the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs.
The Blue Devils kept the game tight throughout the first quarter, trailing 7-5. In the final three quarters, West Branch outscored Cambridge by a score of 60-34.
“We’re sad to see the season close, but we’re proud of the accomplishments of this team,” Cambridge Springs head coach Becky Leandro stated. “This season, I worked with such a wonderful group of young men. They fought diligently for every victory.”
Senior Josh Reisenauer of Cambridge lead the Devils in scoring with 17 points. Ethan Counasse and Brady Campbell, both seniors, contributed seven and four points, respectively. That was the final game for Reisenauer, Counasse, Campbell, and Ben Lieb, four seniors on the roster.
“The seniors will be missed, but their legacy of greatness will carry on in the underclassmen who will assume leadership positions next season,” added Leandro. “The seniors depart with three undefeated region titles, a District 10 championship, and three trips to the state tournament.
I am certain that Brady, Ben, Ethan, and Josh will accomplish incredible things after graduation. They are diligent, assured, and determined.”
Cambridge Springs concluded the season with a 19-7 record.
