Uttar Pradesh is hosting the third Khelo India University Games (KIUG) from May 25 to June 3. It’s a nationwide multi-sport event for university athletes.
Odisha’s previous edition ran from February 22 to March 1, 2020. The Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Association of Indian Universities, Indian Olympic Association, and National Sports Federation are organizing the event. India’s largest university sports tournament.
After the 2020 Khelo India Youth Games, the University Games were founded. The Khelo India University Games find and train 18–25-year-olds for the Olympics and Asian Games.
Five Khelo India University Games cities
On May 25, Babu Banarasi Das University in Lucknow will become a sports village for the Khelo India University Games 2022. Lucknow, Varanasi, Noida, and Gorakhpur will host the games this year in Uttar Pradesh. Delhi hosts one event.
4,500 students from 150 Indian universities will compete in the Khelo India National University Games. Uttar Pradesh will hold the first National University Games after Odisha and Karnataka.
Rowing will be in Gorakhpur while kabaddi, judo, archery, and fencing in Noida. Varanasi has wrestling, Malkham, and yoga events. Lucknow hosts the others.
National University Games competitors are under 26. Khelo India National University Games will prioritize women’s sports.
The government will hire 12 former international athletes as coaches in various disciplines for state-run sports dormitories.
Khelo India University Games 2022 end on May 3. This year’s games will host these sports.
