Tuesday, Josh Williams was handed a one-race penalty for parking his car on the start-finish line during the NASCAR Xfinity race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Williams accepted his sentence but stated that he had no regrets about the acts that led to it. This Saturday’s Xfinity race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas will be missed.
NASCAR announced the suspension of Williams for disregarding a NASCAR order during the Atlanta Motor Speedway race.
NASCAR ordered Williams to place his car in the garage after debris from his vehicle caused a caution during the race. Williams instead parked his vehicle on the finish line, exited it, and strolled toward his pit crew while waving to the crowd.

Before departing the vehicle, Williams protested to his crew over the radio. He stated that it was “supposedly” NASCAR policy to park your vehicle after any type of accident. Added Williams: “This is complete horse manure. I had never heard of this before.”
Tuesday, Williams published a message on his Twitter account expressing gratitude to his fans and sponsors for their support.
Williams wrote, “I stand by my actions and have no regrets,” and added, “I support NASCAR’s choices and will continue to do so in the future.”
Williams also shared a picture of “park it” T-shirts for sale, with revenues benefiting hospitals he supports. Since 2015, Williams has done his Josh Williams Hospital Tour, visiting over 140 children’s hospitals and other institutions.
